Positioning North East Scotland as a global leader in energy excellence and pioneering technologies
The Skills Campus puts people and skills at the centre of the Energy Transition Zone and energy transition. The campus is home to Scotland’s first dedicated Energy Transition Skills Hub, a cutting-edge training facility and the transformational anchor project of the Skills Campus, which opened its doors in autumn 2025.
By investing in the Energy Transition Zone, your company can tap into a highly skilled talent pool and access the region’s world-renowned academic institutions to help develop your current workforce, as well as inspire the next generation.
Energy Transition Skills Hub
Founded by ETZ Ltd, Shell UK and North East Scotland College, with support from UK Government funding and the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, this new facility provides industry-leading workshops and flexible teaching spaces shaped by the needs of employers, cutting-edge equipment reflecting the latest advancements in the energy sector, flexible training designed to suit the needs of individuals and employers, and community spaces for use by local organisations, supporting the ambitions for a just transition for the North East.
The transformation of this once dilapidated industrial space, in proximity to the college’s Altens campus, makes a wide array of energy transition-related courses accessible to both full-time and part-time students. The facility is also home to an education outreach vehicle, designed to ignite inspiration for energy transition and encourage the next generation to explore careers in the energy sector through engaging and interactive activities across the region’s schools.
North East Scotland is home to world-renowned training providers and a highly skilled workforce, making it the ideal location for energy transition companies to grow and expand. ETZ Ltd works with expert partners to make meaningful differences at all education levels, from school engagement through to college and university, meeting business and community skills needs now, and for the future.
