An integrated plan to build a sustainable, net zero future for the North East of Scotland.
ETZ Ltd is fully committed to supporting communities located in proximity to the Energy Transition Zone by delivering sustainable, long-term, community wealth building investments as part of our wider energy transition ambitions.
We are taking forward a significant investment programme to improve local green spaces and deliver a comprehensive community benefit programme aligned to the delivery of the Energy Transition Zone.
The key to successful delivery will be working closely with local communities to identify, shape and deliver impactful projects and enhancements that benefit the area and its people.
Our approach has a dual area of focus:
Working in partnership with communities to identify and deliver impactful projects and providing skills development and career opportunities for people within these communities, whilst ensuring that diverse voices are included in the conversation and benefit from the programme.
Improving the quality of greenspace, enhancing biodiversity and providing opportunities for people both living close to and working in the Energy Transition Zone to enjoy the natural environment through a comprehensive landscape improvement programme.
The Community and Coast programme is underpinned by six key pillars
Increasing local biodiversity and providing more opportunities for people both living and working in the area to enjoy the natural environment.
Supporting local young people to thrive and creating opportunities for the next generation to engage meaningfully with the future of their community.
Prioritising and providing clear pathways for local people to access support, training and jobs associated with the energy transition within the Energy Transition Zone.
Creating opportunities for shared learning with the community in terms of delivering net zero, providing targeted support through education and action-based initiatives.
Improving access to and facilities within recreational areas to provide a greater range of wellbeing and play opportunities for use by the community.
Working with the community to improve facilities, linkages, interpretation, and wayfinding to encourage local people and visitors to learn about and experience the rich history and culture of the area.
The Community & Coast Programme statement for 2024 - 2025 is available to read here. In it, you'll find out more about the programme and its activities.
