Our Net Zero
Principles

Positioning North East Scotland as a global leader in energy excellence and pioneering technologies

ETZ Ltd is committed to setting the highest net zero standards when delivering our property development programme. We have established a set of Net Zero Principles that communicate this ambition to our supply chain and all who work with us.

Supporting the Net Zero Principles is a decision-making framework that ensures net zero is considered at every stage of the development process. Whole-life carbon assessments allow us to compare approaches and ensures that decisions are data driven.

Through the application of this approach property and businesses within the zone will help to accelerate the transition to net zero.

Our Net Zero Principles

  • Circular Economy
  • Building Performance
  • Green Energy Strategy
  • Landscape, Environment and Biodiversity
  • Community and Place

Through the application of this step-by-step guidance and by considering a whole-life carbon approach to property, businesses within the zone will become a showcase for exemplar buildings and infrastructure helping to accelerate the transition to net zero. This provides businesses with a unique competitive advantage, helping to win future contracts within the energy sector alongside the benefits of reduced running costs and long-term sustainability.

Net Zero Principles

Circular Economy

A circular economy approach reduces emissions by reducing embodied carbon emissions which are those associated with the production and transportation of goods.

Energy Strategy

The long-term goal (2030) is to have renewable energy sources providing heat and power to new and refurbished buildings within the Zone through campus wide district heat and power networks.

Building Performance

All buildings will adopt a ‘fabric first’ approach to ensure they are as sustainable and efficient as possible, alongside energy efficient technologies such as efficient LED lighting and smart building controls.

Landscape, Environment and Biodiversity

All developments will be required to incorporate consideration of landscape, environment and biodiversity principles to encourage urban biodiversity

Community

Developments will also be required to consider their relationships with the local community and how they can support improvements to local amenity and wellbeing.

Place

On a project-by-project basis a place-based approach will be undertaken with opportunities to work with the local supply chain being explored.
