Property Fund

Positioning North East Scotland as a global leader in energy excellence and pioneering technologies

Property Improvement Fund

ETZ Ltd’s Property Improvement Fund provides grants to property owners and occupiers in Altens and East Tullos Industrial Estates to upgrade and refurbish properties within the Energy Transition Zone in line with ETZ Ltd’s agreed Net Zero Principles.

The Fund aligns with ETZ Ltd’s ‘brownfield first’ investment programme to deliver market-ready properties for high-value manufacturing and the wider supply chain. It will help revitalise the existing brownfield industrial estates and will ensure high-quality properties are available to attract companies operating in low carbon markets.

This initiative is supported through Scottish Government funding and will act as a catalyst for new investment and jobs as we accelerate the North East of Scotland’s energy transition ambition. The Property Improvement Fund allocates awards within a range of £50,000 to £250,000 per application.

Eligible Project Activities

Refurbishment works to improve the quality of a property to ensure it is suitable and ready for occupation for companies operating in low carbon energy sectors and the wider supply chain.

Works should be in line with ETZ Ltd Net Zero Principles and should adopt circular economy principles whilst considering improving building performance or introducing low carbon energy and heating solutions.

Other qualifying works will include landscape, accessibility and wellbeing enhancements, energy audits and carbon assessments.

ETZ Ltd Net Zero Principles will provide step-by-step guidance for refurbishment. Through application of this guidance and by considering a whole-life carbon approach to property, businesses within the zone will become a showcase for exemplar buildings and infrastructure helping to accelerate the transition to net zero.

Applications are closed for the current funding round.

Property Improvement (Energy Efficiency) Fund

The Property Improvement (Energy Efficiency) Fund will provide grants to property owners and occupiers within Altens and East Tullos Industrial Estates to reduce the energy demand and improve the energy efficiency of properties within the Energy Transition Zone in line with ETZ Ltd's agreed Net Zero Principles.

The new fund aligns with ETZ Ltd’s ‘brownfield first’ approach and investment programme to deliver market-ready properties for high-value manufacturing and the wider energy supply chain. It will help revitalise the existing brownfield industrial estates and will ensure energy efficient properties are available to support the growth of companies operating in low carbon markets.

This initiative is supported through Scottish Government funding and will act as a catalyst to decarbonise the built environment and will unlock private sector investment into existing facilities. The Energy Efficiency Fund will make awards within a range of £10,000 to £25,000 per application, subject to qualifying criteria.

Eligible Project Activities:

  • Additional energy infrastructure, such as solar PV installation or wind turbine
  • Energy efficiency measures, which reduce the amount of energy that a building uses, such as replacement of electrical fittings with more efficient alternatives
  • Low carbon heating measures, such as electric panel heaters; air source heating; biomass boilers

To qualify for the grant, you must be a building occupier operating in a low carbon sector, or a building owner seeking to attract a new occupier in the low carbon sector.

ETZ Ltd Net Zero Principles will provide step-by-step guidance for projects. Through application of this guidance and by considering a whole-life carbon approach to property, businesses within the zone will become a showcase for exemplar buildings and infrastructure helping to accelerate the transition to net zero.
