SME Future Energy Skills Grant

ETZ training grants available to companies in North East Scotland to upskill the workforce for the energy transition.

Companies in the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area can apply to upskill existing employees or train new employees in future energy skills.

ETZ Ltd will allocate over £100,000 worth of funding from the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF). This funding will support the development of the energy supply chain in the region.

Grants of up to £10,000 for small and medium-sized enterprises will be available to cover the full cost of accredited training, which must be booked by 31st March and completed within 6 months.

*ETZ Ltd is a delivery partner for the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund, confirmed by the Scottish Government last year. It will support people into work, reskill and up-skill employees, and increase innovation and business growth. Aberdeen City Council is the lead accountable body for the Fund.


Eligibility:

a) Company must have an Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire postcode.

b) Training can be for existing employees, or for prospective employees who require future energy skills training to fulfill their role

c) Must be for specific, accredited external training and delivered by an external provider.

In order to receive funding companies must:

  • Complete the application process and provide supporting evidence.
  • Provide proof of Aberdeen/shire company address and the number of employees based there.
  • Give names and contact details of the employee(s) to be trained. (If they are not yet employed, ETZ requires a copy of a written offer of employment, which can be worded ‘subject to training’).
  • Detail the training course, provider, accreditation credentials, and cost.
  • Once agreed with ETZ, book place(s) on the course for the individual(s) named.
  • Submit a copy of the external training provider’s invoice to ETZ.
  • ETZ will cover the full cost of the course plus reasonable travel/subsistence expenses (to be agreed with ETZ), up to a maximum total of £10,000 (including VAT) per company.
  • ETZ aims to pay the agreed Grant to the Company within 15 working days of a completed claim.
  • Proof of employee attendance/completion of the training course must then be provided to ETZ, otherwise, grant funding will be recovered.
