Energy Transition Infrastructure: What the North Thinks

View the results of the first independent survey of over 3,000 people across Scotland’s communities most impacted by energy transition. ETZ Ltd partnered with True North Advisors, who commissioned respected research analysts, Diffley Partnership, to survey over 3,000 people across Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Angus, Highland, Moray and Perth & Kinross. The survey covered vital issues such as the delivery of renewable energy projects, upgrading Scotland’s electricity grid, community benefits, transmission charging and the role of oil and gas.The polling results were analysed at an ETZ Ltd hosted event at the Marcliffe in Aberdeen, where True North Advisors discussed key findings, which led to a panel discussion with industry professionals before hearing what the audience had to say in a Q&A session and round table discussions. The survey, which is of unprecedented scale and detail, provides valuable insight into the views of communities most impacted by energy transition. ETZ Ltd, as a private sector-led and not-for-profit company spearheading North East Scotland’s energy transition ambition, view it as vital to understand the views and concerns of those people and communities at the vanguard of what is a transformational industrial opportunity. With the survey data and accompanying analysis now available to read, it is important to consider views on how industry and policymakers, at a local and national level, can continue to work together to achieve a transition that is managed and just.Read the full polling analysis here: https://etz-ltd-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/WhatTheNorthThinks_updated.pdfRead the full data tables for this poll https://diffleypartnership.co.uk/north-of-scotland-energy-survey-truenorth-advisors/

ETZ Ltd’s Community & Coast Fund Announces Second Year of Grants for Local Projects in Torry and Cove

31 local community projects supported by almost £200,000 in two yearsNow in its second year, the Community & Coast Fund is providing grants to 15 local organisations to deliver a new wave of impactful, community led initiatives that will benefit residents across Torry and Cove. With £100,000 made available in this second round, the fund has now supported 31 local projects, with total investment approaching £200,000. Delivered in partnership with Aberdeen’s Third Sector Interface, ACVO TSI, ETZ Ltd’s Community & Coast Fund aims to empower local groups by providing targeted grants to support initiatives that respond to community needs ranging from youth support to wellness and skills development, as well as heritage preservation, sustainability and improving biodiversity. Applications opened in late September 2025, inviting local groups to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to help bring their ideas for innovative community projects to life. This year’s applicants were also asked to consider four priority issues identified with local stakeholders and Year 1 awardees: community safety, community engagement, social isolation and mental health. The local organisations benefiting from the fund this year include Charleston Primary Parent Council, who will develop a dedicated sensory room to support children with additional needs, Cove Woodland Trust to extend the community woodland path network and improve access for all visitors, Torry Men’s Shed to strengthen its community space where men can meet and learn new skills, and Cove and Altens Community Council to deliver their Tree of Hope project, a semi-permanent structure built in partnership with local groups. Big Noise Torry will also benefit, supporting its free, long-term music education programme that helps hundreds of children and young people build confidence, develop life skills and reach their potential. Carole Monnier, Community Lead at ETZ Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to continue supporting projects that make a real difference for people in Torry and Cove, and empower groups to turn great ideas into action.” ACVO Development Officer Sarah Irvine worked closely with groups in Torry and Cove throughout the application period, helping shape proposals and support ideas. She said: “It’s been fantastic to work with so many local organisations as they bring their projects to life. There’s a great mix of initiatives this year, and I’m excited to see the positive impact they will have across Torry and Cove.” These awards represent an important source of investment for community-led initiatives at a time when funding is increasingly competitive and many local organisations in Aberdeen - and across Scotland - are managing significant financial pressures. Maggie Hepburn, Chief Executive of ACVO TSI, said:“Securing funding is often a challenge for community groups, so we’re pleased to support the delivery of this initiative for a second year. ACVO has a strong track record of working with organisations across Aberdeen, and we see the difference well-resourced projects can make."ACVO TSI will be actively engaging with recipients of the fund to showcase their success as the projects get underway in 2026, and we look forward to sharing these stories next year.” Below is the full list of the 15 Year 2 funded organisations, with further information on each project found here. Altens and Cove Community AssociationBrimmond Court Residents AssociationCharleston Primary Parent CouncilCove and Altens Community CouncilCove in BloomCove Thistle AFCCove Woodland TrustCove Youth Football ClubGreyhope Parent VoiceLoirston Primary School Parent CouncilMen in MindSistema Scotland – Big Noise TorryTorry Men's ShedTullos Community GardenTullos Crescent Allotments
