Taking us to the second company in our 'Inside the Energy Transition Zone' series about the organisations based in the Energy Transition Zone, we spoke with Sarah Wells. As the Business Development Manager of Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG), she told us more about this membership organisation and how they have found it useful to be based in the W-ZERO 1 building and at the heart of the Energy Transition Zone in Aberdeen.
We have been regarded as the original energy transition organisation where we started in 2003. We have got 260 members and it's continuously growing. We are here to support organisations from all across the supply chain, both in the UK and overseas.
Overall, our role is to support the sector. We host various different networking events, share knowledge on what's going on in the sector, and provide opportunities for collaboration, and connection. We are just here to support where we can.
When we were looking to bring on a new team around a year ago, there really did not seem like a better place to do it than here at the Energy Transition Zone. Particularly, with companies such as ORE Catapult launching the Floating Wind Innovation Centre (FLOWIC), it has been really great.
I think that when you reference that you are based in W-ZERO 1, a lot of companies you speak with immediately know where you are and who is there.
Also, a lot of the companies that are based here with us, are AREG members. But for those that are not, there is always that opportunity to collaborate and connect in other ways that we can.
When it comes to ETZ Ltd, we have worked closely together for a few years now and had support there in some of our networking events. ETZ Ltd has spoken at them, sharing knowledge on what is growing in the sector and particularly with the exciting opportunities that ETZ Ltd have going on as well.
